City of Santa Ana’s Vision for Minnie Street

Cornerstone Village is located on Minnie Street in Santa Ana. OHDC owns 20 buildings on the street for a total of 182 units. These buildings were previously dilapidated and the crime rate on the street was high. Renovation of the interior and exterior of the buildings began in 2000. In Phase II & Phase III, ten buildings, each with 10, one-bedroom units, were gutted and each building converted into four, one-bedroom, two, two-bedroom and two, three-bedroom units to accommodate larger families. One of OHDC’s buildings houses a Santa Ana Police Department Sub- station and a learning center run by the Mariner’s Church. This project was made possible by funding from the City of Santa Ana Redevelopment Agency and Tax Exempt Bonds. OHDC was awarded the 2004 Audrey Nelson Community Development Achievement Award by the National Community Development Association for this project.
